Fair Housing Act
The Fair Housing Act of 1968 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and handicap. Thus anyone trying to obtain housing cannot be denied housing due to the previous mentioned areas. The act does exempt owner occupied housing under four units though. It also exempts private organizations and private clubs that limit occupancy to it members. There are other requirements too. This is only a basic overview of the Fair Housing Act of 1968.
