SENIORS AND TECHNOLOGY
Today technology is used by most people on a day-to-day basis. Some say our world is overrun with technology. However, technology is both useful and useless in many ways. Most devices were not developed or even considered forty years ago. This is a main reason for the generational gap between young and old individuals in regards to technology. This newsletter will examine what impact this generational gap has on seniors, how to lower senior anxiety when using technology, and it will cover a benefit technology offers to seniors too.
Recent technology (Iphones, Ipads, Smart TVs, Computers, GPS, etc…) did not exist years ago. The fact that daily use technology did not exist years ago is significantly important because the use of technology requires a learning curve. The younger generation is growing up with these devices so the learning curve is almost nonexistent for them. However seniors did not grow up with these devices so the learning curve is huge which can cause seniors to have anxiety from its use…
